Prime Star Transport tractors staged at a terminal under a dusk sky

Freight that cannot wait, run by an operation built to be accountable.

Prime Star Transport operates in the part of the supply chain that cannot be deferred: moving the material, fluids, and equipment that keep energy and industrial production running. This page outlines how the business is structured, how it is governed, and where management is focused.

Why this operation, in this part of the market.

Four structural characteristics define how Prime Star competes and where management believes the business is durable.

01

Demand tied to production, not discretionary spend

Frac sand, fluids, and equipment have to reach the pad for a well to produce. Industrial and construction customers face the same constraint. Freight in these categories is scheduled against operations, which makes it structurally less elastic than consumer-driven freight.

02

An owned fleet with a variable capacity layer on top

Company equipment and drivers cover committed lanes. Volume above that is absorbed by carrier partners held to the same qualification standard. The model lets capacity flex with demand without carrying the fixed cost of peak-load equipment year round.

03

Corridor density rather than national sprawl

Operations are concentrated across five corridors anchored on the Permian Basin, extending through South and East Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and North Dakota. Density inside a defined footprint supports better equipment utilization and reload rates than thin national coverage.

04

Three independent channels into one capacity pool

Company drivers, lease and owner-operators, and carrier partners all feed the same freight. Driver supply is the binding constraint in trucking; sourcing it three ways reduces dependence on any single channel.

What the business actually runs on

Equipment breadth

Hopper bottom, belly dump, and pneumatic trailers for bulk; flatbed and step deck for industrial freight; lowboy and RGN for heavy haul; winch trucks for rig moves; chassis for box work.

Round-the-clock dispatch

Dispatch is staffed 24/7 with load visibility and a named contact per account, so schedule changes are handled in the moment rather than the next business day.

Compliance infrastructure

Driver qualification files, MVR and employment verification, Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse queries, DOT testing, and hours-of-service monitoring against ELD records.

Documentation and settlement

BOLs, proof of delivery, inspections, and settlement detail are captured and retrievable through the driver portal — supporting billing accuracy, audit response, and dispute resolution.

Owned equipment, with a vetted carrier layer above it.

Company equipment and company drivers cover the lanes we have committed to. Demand above that line is covered by carrier partners who are qualified against the same standard we apply internally — the same MVR review, Clearinghouse query, and insurance verification.

The practical effect is that peak demand does not require peak fleet. Utilization stays the constraint on adding equipment, and equipment gets added where lane commitments already justify it.

Where management is focused

These are the areas of operational focus. They are statements of strategy and intent, not forecasts or commitments.

  1. 01

    Capacity added against committed volume

Equipment is added where lane commitments justify it rather than in anticipation of demand. The carrier partner layer absorbs volume in the interim, which keeps utilization the gating factor on fleet growth.

  2. 02

    Systems and freight visibility

Continued investment in load tracking, document capture, and settlement transparency through the portal — reducing manual handling for dispatch and giving customers and drivers the same view of a load.

  3. 03

Depth before breadth in the footprint

Management's focus is on increasing density inside the existing corridors — more freight per lane and better reload rates — before extending into new geography.

  4. 04

    Driver and carrier network development

Growing qualified driver supply across all three channels, and deepening the vetted carrier bench so surge volume can be covered without relaxing the qualification standard.

The discipline underneath the growth

In trucking, the downside risks are regulatory, safety, and maintenance related. These are managed as operating requirements rather than reporting exercises.

Regulatory compliance

Operations are run to DOT and FMCSA requirements. Hours-of-service is monitored against ELD records and the short-haul exception is applied only where it legitimately qualifies.

Driver qualification

Every driver — company, lease, or carrier partner — is qualified against the same standard: MVR review, employment verification, Clearinghouse query, and DOT drug and alcohol testing.

Equipment integrity

Scheduled preventive maintenance, recorded pre-trip and post-trip inspections, annual inspections, and defect tracking to resolution before a unit is dispatched.

Insurance and documentation

Certificates of insurance, W-9, and compliance records are maintained and available to customers and brokers on request. Load documentation is captured at pickup and delivery.

Controlled growth

Growth is constrained by the ability to qualify drivers and maintain equipment to standard. Volume is not accepted that the operation cannot cover safely and on schedule.
